NORFOLK SOUTHERN BIRMINGHAM — REGIONAL INTERMODAL FACILITY

Project Scope

E.S. Wagner Company served as the prime contractor for the construction of the Norfolk Southern Birmingham Regional Intermodal Facility. The project included 1,700,000 cubic yards of excavation, placement of 300,000 tons of dense graded aggregate, installation of 25,000 linear feet of storm and sanitary sewer, 4,500 linear feet of water line, and 220,000 square yards of 9- to 16-inch roller compacted concrete pavement. Additional scope involved the construction and installation of 31,600 track feet of pre-plated wood tie track and 37,000 track feet of steel tie track, along with 10 box culverts, 8 above-ground storage tank systems, and 690 linear feet of precast viaduct structure. The project also included the facility entrance road, electrical systems, compressed air system, site security features, erosion and sediment control measures, and landscaping.
