Challenge

Large-scale earthwork, extensive underground utilities coordination, and an evolving scope, within a constricted timeline.

Solution

ESW utilized a flexible, self-performed construction approach to maintain momentum, adjusting sequencing to work efficiently around ongoing lead remediation within the building footprint. Integrated management of earthwork, aggregate placement, and nearly 20,000 LF of utilities ensured coordination and productivity, while proactively addressing scope gaps to keep the project on schedule.

Project Scope

E.S. Wagner Company (ESW) completed the site development package for an 80-acre, 750,000-square-foot Campbell’s Soup distribution facility in Findlay, Ohio. The work included 400,000 cubic yards of earthwork, excavation of a 5-acre detention basin, placement of over 35,000 tons of aggregate, and installation of nearly 20,000 linear feet of underground utilities (1.5”–54”) with 63 associated structures, all primarily self-performed. Despite construction constraints from concurrent lead remediation within a former shooting range located in the building footprint, ESW maintained schedule through adaptive sequencing, while also filling scope gaps for the general contractor to support on-time project delivery.
