## Challenge

Executing a large-scale automotive distribution facility with extensive rail infrastructure while maintaining seamless coordination for Norfolk Southern-supplied rail, ballast, and crossing materials.

## Solution

E.S. Wagner worked closely with Norfolk Southern through biweekly on-site coordination meetings to align material deliveries, track construction activities, and project milestones, resulting in on-schedule completion.

## Project Scope

E.S. Wagner Company served as the prime contractor for the construction of the 155-acre Norfolk Southern Automotive Distribution Center in Fostoria, Ohio. The project included 1,049,500 cubic yards of earthwork, placement of 104,676 cubic yards of 3-inch minus stone base and 268,700 cubic yards of aggregate base, 26,540 square yards of concrete paving, 80,770 square yards of asphalt paving, 39,815 linear feet of drainage and utility infrastructure, a large sanitary lift station, and 6,125 linear feet of yard air and compressor systems. Rail work included the installation of more than 83,500 linear feet of owner-supplied track, 37 switches, and approximately 75,000 tons of ballast. To meet the aggressive schedule of 300 days to achieve operational status, E.S. Wagner accelerated winter operations by converting 52,000 cubic yards of planned earth embankment to granular embankment and coordinated closely with Norfolk Southern to integrate owner-supplied rail materials. The project was completed one month ahead of schedule and received the Ohio Asphalt Smooth Paving Award for commercial paving excellence.
