## By the Numbers

- 5700 SF Design-Build Post and Panel Shoring
- 2255 CY Pit Excavation – Inside an Existing Building
- 970 CY of Structural Concrete for Slabs, Walls, and Finished Floors

## Challenge

Constructing six press pits within a confined footprint required precise coordination of shoring, surgical excavation, and precision structural concrete work, creating complex sequencing and safety challenges.

## Solution

E.S. Wagner delivered a design-build and carefully sequenced approach to drilled beam and lag shoring and excavation to facilitate highly technical structural concrete work performed within the lateral and vertical constraints of an existing building.

## Project Scope

The Warehouse Press Pit Excavation and Foundation Project included 2255 CY of pit excavation for six reinforced concrete press pits. Shoring efforts included 74 soldier piles drilled and poured in to place totaling 2,050 LF drilling with 5,700 SF of hardwood lagging installed to create deep excavation stability, protecting both the excavation and the existing building structure. Structural work featured 6,220 SF of multi-thickness slabs, 5,530 SF of 12-inch, and 4,690 SF of 7-inch finished floor pavement. Additional work included demolition, concrete pavement removal, aggregate base placement, and loading dock construction.
